Sorcerer & Sword is a supplement for Ron Edward's Sorcerer. It adapts the Sorcerer rules from modern horror to the classic Sword & Sorcery genre. The goal here is not to replicate any particular setting, but to provide the tools necessary to create your own stories in unique settings. The book provides bare outlines of three different settings: a post-apocalyptic one, a dark Grimm Brothers style "fairy tale" setting, and a 1,001 Arabian Nights setting.
After a review of the genre the book adapts and introduces new rules and guidelines covering the hero, sorcery, mechanics, and concludes with essays providing an in-depth analysis of play styles and other meta-game concepts.
While it is a supplement for Sorcerer, this book is very effective at picking apart the genre and serves as one of the premier sources on the genre. Particularly notable are Chapters Two and Three which cover the literature and the setting respectively.

| 3 + 2 | smascrns | [Fantasy Week] Sorcerer & Sword. How good is Sorcerer & Sword, you ask? As good as the next sentence: “Cyrion, Rajan, and Fafhrd aren’t real names. But they sound as if they could be …” (p. 37). [ Read Review ] |

| 9 / 10 | Gregor Hutton | As a supplement it is Outstanding. As a treatise on Fantasy literature and how you can game in that rich vein of fiction it is a joy. Really interesting and directly written. Steps beyond where most fantasy games comfortably exist. A must, dare I say, for people who don't even own Sorcerer. |
| 10 / 10 | Oliveira | Probably the best supplement for any game I've ever read. Completely turns the assumptions of fantasy roleplaying around, discarding a lot of the outdated and stupid ideas that the hobby has accumulated over the years. You'll be a better gm and player for reading this book. |
