SotU * Refired (originally,
Re-Searchers of the Unknown) is a one-page roleplaying game inspired by
Searchers of the Unknown (
SotU), that adds races (elves, dwarves, and men), classes (fighters, thieves, and wizards) with different movement rates, helmets, additional weapons, and rules for spellcasting.
The roll under level plus AC mechanic from the original
SotU is modified to 1d20 plus the attacker's level (or half the attacker's level) and the defender's armor class (20 or higher is a success). Damage has been changed from a simple roll to rolling a number of dice equal to a monster's hit dice or based on the weapon type. All dice with the same number are added together, and the highest sum is the damage. Other checks use 1d20 plus some multiplier of level compared against AC or a fixed target number.
