Mark Smylie's Artesia: Adventures in the Known World is the rpg based upon Smylie's comic "Artesia".
Written, designed, layed out and illustrated by Mark Smylie, this game uses a modified Fuzion system, a skill and trait driven system using a roll over system that compares character competence to a difficulty rating. Notable is the game's experience system, which provide awards for character experiences based upon a range of "arcana" or tarot archetypes. For example, doing an act of "Justice" such as forgiving others or defending a person accused of a crime will award you "Arcana Points".
The background of the world is extensive, adapted from the earlier material released in the Artesia graphic novels and Artesia annuals, with some new material here as well. This book serves as both an rpg and a sourcebook for the "Known World" of Artesia.

| 5 + 4 | Brand_Robins | Artesia: Adventures in the Known World. Based on the Artesia graphic novels, this fusion-based RPG is a solid product with high production values and a solid system. It's only flaws are a distinct lack of game-helpful references like a glossary, index, or cross-referenced organization. [ Read Review ] |
| 4 + 4 | C.W.Richeson | Artesia: Adventures In The Known World. Artesia provides a unique fantasy setting, a rules set that strives for realism, and a system of magic that actually feels magical. [ Read Review ] |

| 9 / 10 | ShannonA | An innovative and original RPG system that calls back to classics like RuneQuest. Some of the systems, such as the experience, are a bit rough on the gamemaster, but ultimately worth the trouble. An index was badly needed. |
| 8 / 10 | Skiorht | An incredibly well presented game with the author's vision clearly evident. The system is a bit rough around the edges, but combines some of the best traits of 80's detailed design and modern indie sensibilities. The setting info can be a bit overwhelming at times, but it is quality work. |
