Monster Manual IV is the most recent volume in collection of monsters. Each monster is illustrated and features a new stat block format that facilitates faster gameplay. In addition, the book includes sample encounters, pregenerated treasure hoards, and sidebars on how to incorporate the creatures in a Forgotten Realms or Eberron campaign.

| 4 / 10 | Sangrolu | Disappointing. Spends a lot of time delving into specific racial variants, with mixed results. Uses optional material where it's not needed so much (Drow Ninja), but doesn't resort to using psionics where it is more compelling (Gith). |
| 5 / 10 | Pseudo Nymh | Clearly designed for newer DMs; a lot of space is spent describing the various monsters' habitats and charts of knowledge check DCs. Useful for new DMs, but a huge waste of space for us crusty old DMs who are very set in our ways. Probably worth having, but has fewer entries than the other Monster Manuals and a portion of the entries here are just class levels added on to older monsters. |
