GURPS, the Generic Universal Role-Playing System, is a system for all genres. Character generation is point-based, with points buying attributes, skills, and advantages, and disadvantages and low attributes being traded for extra points. Combat can be run at either of two levels: Basic (somewhat abstract) and Advanced (map-based). A basic magic system is included, as is a psionics system. There is a chapter on game-mastering, and another on writing adventures
