The second game in White Wolf's original "World of Darkness" line, W:tA allows you to assume the mantle of the Garou - ancient half-man, half-wolf creatures of bestial rage and awesome power. The Garou protect the wilderness from the predations of supernatural forces who seek to corrupt humankind's imaginative and inventive spirit to poison and defile the ancient face of Gaia.
In the face of overwhelming loss and crippling corruption, when will you rage?

| 8 / 10 | Arvaniz | A sometimes-misunderstood game, Werewolf greatly explores the theme of violence, both literal and metaphorical. Also, it gives powerful starting characters, so everyone is happy... ;-) |
| 6 / 10 | TrippyHippy | Always seemed to be cast in Vampire's shadow when it was originally released - and was criticised mainly for reverting back to typical combat orientated roleplay that Vampire had seemingly wanted to move away from. The various splats aren't quite as thematically iconic in my view either, while the original Storyteller system was never really strong enough to sustain the action sequences demanded by the game. Still, it did have an evocative setting to play in - gloriously illustrated as a full colour comic strip in the introduction to the 2nd Edition. Indeed, one often wished they could ditch the Werewolf motif altogether, and simply pit normal groups of humans against the Wyrm! |
