An adaptation of the hit comic series, "The Authority". The comic was the first to do what the writer, Warren Ellis, labeled "widescreen" superheroics. The characters fought super-scale battles across the familiar landscapes of modern cities - locations were destroyed, people died and the fights just kept getting larger and larger. The first 12 issues were some of the best super-hero comic series of the late 90's, early 2000's.
The Authority RPG is an adaptation of that idea using the Guardians of Order Tri-Stat system and Wizards of the Coasts D20 system. The book is hardcover with 352 full-color pages.

| 5 + 4 | yorrick | The Authority RPG and Resource Book. SAS is not my favorite supers system, but this is an excellent resource for fans of the Authority comic regardless of your rules set. [ Read Review ] |

| 8 / 10 | Lazarus | Tri-Stat done with the beauty of the Authority. It's a very well presented version of Tri-Stat d12. |
| 9 / 10 | BigJackBrass | Easily the most beautifully presented superhero RPG (and in the top handful of any genre) thanks to sharp design and the thoughtfully chosen examples of Bryan Hitch's outstanding art. A well-made book, too, with stitched pages and quality construction throughout. The system works better for the "widescreen" style of The Authority than for grittier street-level heroics and the addition of Skill Groups as an optional alternative to more detailed skill lists helps with this, keeping the grand sweep of the action without losing rules focus. Authority fans will love the sourcebook side of it, RPGers will appreciate the excellent advice, solidly presented background and flexible rules. Such a pity that Guardians of Order went out of business. |
