Game Summary
Billed as "A World Born without Love", Valus is a grim, low-fantasy d20 campaign setting. Recurrent themes are a high mortality rate, uncaring gods, racism, xenophobia, and moral ambiguity. The dark tone is primarily promoted though the setting's flavor text, but the book does include a number of rules changes.

Valus was originally Ryan Smalley's homebrew Dungeons & Dragons campaign world. In 2003, he began posting "Sins of Our Fathers", which chronicled the adventures of his real-life gaming group's PCs, in the Story Hour forum of ENWorld. The quality of the writing resulted in a publishing contract, and in 2005 Valus was nominated for an ENnie.
