This book presents the setting of the Warhammer Fantasy Battles miniature game for roleplay use. It's a dark, gritty world. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay takes the traditional fantasy traditions - elves, dwarves, orcs - and puts a grim twist upon them, in a world where beings battle chaos.
The game design is conventional, but guided by templates known as "careers" and in game progression is through careers. The characters are a hybrid of characteristics or attributes with binary skills. System is percentile roll under with a magic system using magic points.
The game is complete, providing the rules for characters, GM advice, the world setting and the occupants of the world (including monsters).

| 8 / 10 | TrippyHippy | Hugely popular 'third generation' fantasy setting that acted as a nexus for antecedent game design ideas, in each respective edition. I just find the gameworld a little too familiar these days, but it does represent a significant proportion of my youthful gaming, with some terrific campaigns to play in. |
