Roma Imperious is a self-contained book that uses the Iridium Standard System core rules. The Iridium System has hit locations, is based on a human range of stats between one and twenty, and has three magic systems. Skills are percentile based and stats influence the outcome.
Roma Imperious is set in an alternate Roman Empire that discovered magic during the reign of Constantine. He went on to found the Scholae Magorum, a series of schools throughout the Empire whose purpose is to discover those capable of casting magic and expand the Roman understanding of the science. This exploded, over the centuries, into a new economy and new cultural changes allowing the inclusion of foreign cultures into what made the Empire Roman.
Today, the year 1461 A.U.C, the Empire stretches from Hibernia to the edge of the Jade Empire, from Skandia to northern Africanus but still faces many of the problems the original Empire faced. Barbarians threaten the borders while corruption and decadence deteriorate the interior. Civil war has recently ravaged the provinces and magic has made it more difficult than easy. Internal plots brew amongst the subjugated peoples while others find their lot far more rewarding under the Empire. Although there is peace in the Empire, there is also turmoil.

| 9 / 10 | Zachary The First | Excellent work. The rules-medium Iridium system isn't for everyone (I like it), but RI provides some really flavorful character classes and a thorough magic section. The setting itself is an absolute blast--well-written and addictive. The system and the setting are presented as separate, so the setting can easily be ported to another system if desired. |
| 9 / 10 | mcrow | Roma Imperious is the perfect blend of fantasy and Rome. If you are looking for a fantasy game based in Roman times, this is it! The book has a ton of background info, classes, spells, and a full bestiary. Great game. |
