Castles and Covenants provides pre-made mage covenants and their residents to drop into your Mage: the Sorcerers Crusade game. The first chapter discusses castle life in Renaissance Europe, as well as the idea of a covenant's seasons, as they bloom, mature and decay.
The next two chapters cover covenants of the Order of Reason and the Tradition. The five Daedalean strongholds range from the Order's seat, the White Tower of Languedoc -- itself a chantry captured from a Hermetic wizard -- to Portus Crucis, where skyriggers are built. In addition to the Lord Cabot's Grange, the Traditions' chapter includes two covenants familiar to Mage: the Ascension players: Doissetep and Horizon; at this point in time, the otherworldly meeting place and bastion of the Traditions is still in its infancy.
The final chapters include a pair of independent covenants -- a troupe of travelling players and a tower of those who do the dirty work of others -- and a couple other places of interest to mages.

| 4 + 4 | Wood | Castles and Covenants. This out-of-print but easy to find supplement for Mage: The Sorcerors Crusade is a gem. Its complete absence of game stats make it really useful for any fantasy game which involves spellcasters. [ Read Review ] |

| 5 / 10 | DrFaust | It's yet another location book by White Wolf. It's almost background noise at this point. |
| 6 / 10 | JDCorley | Kinda neat, I guess. A little uninspired after the line's brilliant start. |
