10 / 10zetoVery close to WEG's D6 system but with a twist: it makes it grittier and more apt to handle every situations a modern game ought to handle. I like the fun and statistical mapping of a small d6 pool. It is quick to play with, and it is possible to instill more realism in this d6 chunkiness than by going to far in the details like some games try to do. EABA, like D6, is a system that does not favor specific rules. The core mechanics ought to be able to handle unspecified situations with ease and believability. So I highly recommend it if you want a game that can handle most action situations you could think of, that has the right amount of predictability and randomness, with a very coherent and reasonably simple rule-set. I think that for people who, like me, are used to video games and to the quickness and tactical awareness that goes with them, we have here the best sort of system to replicate that sense of credibility and urgency. My verdict: the best generic role playing system on the market. And I rate it 10.
10 / 10Jason AndersonGreat system, comprehensive core rulebook.
10 / 10Mesa VirgaExcellent system, manages to give a great number of options and good detail without becoming bogged down. Generates some of the most intuitive results/outcomes of any game I've seen.
9 / 10Tom BVery flexible. I especially recommend the power construction system (usable for spells, cyberware, psionics, supers, etc.) More cinematic in scale than CORPS.
8 / 10Zachary The FirstThe best thing I can say about this system is that it seems to "click" perfectly for me. The rules make sense, are easy to learn, and provide for detail without swamping me. The layout is simple, but easy to follow. The writing is dry, but crystal-clear. This might be the generic ruleset I was looking for.
8 / 10BreakfastOfChampionsWell laid out and thought out. A very useful system for conversion from other systems.
8 / 10SkiorhtThe most elegant highly detailed universal RPG I've seen. EABA scales very nicely from everyday humans to low-powered supers and is very good for gaming in high-verisimilitude settings. The writing and editing are cool and competent, if not exciting.
