10 / 10Midnight the ClumsyI really Love this game, the Tri-Stat Edition that is!! Everything you need is in one book!! Really good rules, in my opinion much better that many others out there.
10 / 10iagoPossibly the best superhero game out there (in Tri-Stat form)... I love the way that character creation can be crunchy and detailed, but in play, things are fast and smooth, even lightweight, and spot-on for comic book feel.
10 / 10The Formless OneI love this superhero game. Combined with Century Station, I had a blast running "Century Age Sentinels"
9 / 10CromA very good D20 game. I'm not a big fan of comic books, but this was fun.
9 / 10AJFixerSOme minor faults, but SAS Tri-Stat is one of the best supers RPGs of all time. The book is very well organized and the full-color art in the Deluxe edition is wonderful.
9 / 10BigJackBrassHeart-breakingly close to greatness and the Deluxe edition looks wonderful. A bold attempt at recreating the more hopeful tone of the Silver Age comics after years of dark, brooding and often murderous "heroes." Solid rules, despite a few grey areas, and enough in the basic book to run a fine campaign.
9 / 10Drake2000A wonderfully open and quick system, well-adapted to the superhero genre. One of the few supers games I would wholeheartedly recommend.
8 / 10Lord MhoramDecent rules, great setting and characters. Some of the best in the recent spate of superhero gaming.
8 / 10TenciGreat Superhero RPG. Visually stunning and filled with great info. My choice of a superhero RPG.
8 / 10Zachary The FirstTop-notch supers gaming.
7 / 10GyrfalconA pretty solid supers game, but ultimately overshadows by Mutants and Masterminds.
7 / 10JDCorleyThe many different editions of this game make it hard to work out how to rate it. However, they also have different strengths and weaknesses that make them very different products. d20 has not-as-good organization. The Limited Edition has a number of character creation options that are too overwhelming. The stingy gamer edition is...well, okay. That one is basically perfect. More companies should do them.
6 / 10leonmallettClunky. Like Champions wrestling with D20 for a crowd who are not being entertained. Some friends are huge fans, I am not.
5 / 10TrippyHippyFlagship game that failed. Not hard to see why in the (admittedly shallow) comparison of it's art and layout to it's near competitors (nominally Mutants and Masterminds). Trouble is, in the comic strip genre, visual impact counts for a lot and the vaunted system really wasn't all that amazing or original.

Year Magazine Synopsis
2003d20Zine #4A contrasting review of two super-hero games. On S&S d20: "[I]t does a fantastic job at capturing that good vs. evil feel that is missing from so many comics today.... The biggest problem is that combat is slowed down considerably because of all of the different combat modifiers that have to be taken into consideration.... My final grade? Both books receive a grade of 'A'".
2003d20Zine #5Comparing and contrasting how six d20 super-hero RPGs handle building a character, combat, and mundane activities. "If you’re looking for a setting, Silver Age Sentinels is the way to go. It has the most extensive notes on playing super-heroes that I've ever seen in a game and Empire City (and the world) is described in great detail."
2003d20Zine #6"2 Dragons as a D20 Product 4 Dragons as a Stand Alone Product.... So first off, why two different ratings? Would you believe that I think this is a great game but that the d20 system logo is a lure to get you to buy it based not on its own merits but its compatibility with the d20 system?"
