Alternate Dungeon Squad is the precursor of Advanced Dungeon Squad (ADS), both of which are modified and expanded versions of the short 24 hour RPG Dungeon Squad. Characters are created by assigning four dice (d4, d6, d8, and d10) to four abilities (Body, Mind, Soul, and Reflexes) and choosing a class, instead of the three profession-based abilities in the original. Tasks are still resolved by rolling the difficulty or higher on the appropriate die, though difficulties now range from 2 (easy) to 10 (nigh impossible). The Persona trait (determined by a random die roll) and more character options are added, while Ranks (levels) provide a slightly more structured advancement method. More than three times the size of the Alternate version, the Advanced version has more character classes and a greatly expanded bestiary.
