Game Summary

Wildscape is a d20 rules supplement focused on adventures in the wilderness. It was one of the first d20 supplements released in the wake of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5, and while it contains material updated for the revision there are a few 3.0isms that were missed in the editing process.

There is a chapter on characters and another on running campaigns in the wilderness, but the bulk of the book describes mundane and fantastic variations of desert, forest, montain, plains, waterway, swamp, and arctic terrain (using a new "hazard stat block"). The chapter on characters includes alignment-based druid variants, variant ranger combat styles, non-spellcasting ranger variants, feats, and adventuring advice.

3 / 10SleeperThe variant ranger combat styles are excellent, if oddly balanced (give up spellcasting at 4th level for new abilities that don't kick in until 12th level?). However, the alternate druids are very bland, and while some of the unusual terrain is interesting a lot of the rest of the book feels like padding.
