Game Summary

Probably the most famous and most printed RPG adventure ever. Adventurers inhabit a fortress and fight monsters in the caverns of a nearby ravine. Other quirks include not providing names for any of the townspeople described, and the failure to explain why all the different groups of monsters are co-existing in relative harmony.

This game is also contained in 10th Anniversary Dungeons & Dragons Collector's Set, B1-9: In Search of Adventure, Dungeons & Dragons B/X Basic Set, Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set (1979), and TSR Silver Anniversary Collector's Edition.

Notes on This Edition

Although also sold separately, B2 is best known for appearing in many of the D&D basic sets in the early 1980s. This supplement also has a sequel called Return to Keep on the Borderlands. Curiously, while Keep on the Borderlands is a D&D/Mystara module, Return is AD&D/Greyhawk.
