Welcome to the Age of Heroes!
It is the Third Age of Man. The Argorian Age. The Age of Heroes. It was the time that existed before history was recorded by modern man. Kingdoms rose and fell and Empires expanded and crumbled. Small cities have banded together to form Kingdoms. Coraythia, Lissaryn, and Wiernhiemer are the Greatest of the Kingdoms. These Kingdoms seek to expand their holdings. Through treaties and arranged marriages the Kingdoms have kept an uncomfortable peace between themselves for hundreds of years. No one Kingdom can afford a war with another, and there is not enough trust to form anything more than an uneasy alliance between any of the Three Kingdoms.
Coraythia is the northernmost kingdom. To the Southwest lies Lissaryn, Wiernhiemer to the Southeast. The lands of the Barbarians circle to the North, East, and West. Farther East, across the waters, lay the Kingdoms of the East. Many Cycles to the South live the Desert Tribes.
Coraythia is seeking to civilize the Wilderness to the South. They hope to drive a wedge between Lissaryn and Wiernhiemer, in the hopes of creating discord between the two Kingdoms. If the two fought, Coraythia would then only profit from the tolls charged to pass through her sovereign lands. Imagine the monies to be made from the weapons and supplies that either would need to fight a campaign of such magnitude. Then, when each country has depleted their stores of grain and coffers of gold, no one would stand in the way of the conquest of both great nations.
But what does that have to do with Life in the Wilderness? Coraythia has offered lodging and money to anyone who wishes to relocate to an Outpost in the Wilderness. The lure of easy money, free board and daily doses of adventure are enough to bring them. They come from every land, from every walk of life, rich or poor, good or evil, farmer or fighter. They come, running in droves. Some running to, some running away, but they come. They want to make a mark in this, the Third Age of Man. They seek to make a mark in The Age of Heroes
