Game Summary

Micro-MechWarrior is an extremely rules-light simplification of the 1st edition MechWarrior rules, inspired by the rules and philosophy behind Microlite20.

Characters are defined by four stats (Strength, Dexterity, Mind, and Charisma) generated using a skewed 2d6 roll (that makes stats of 10 more uncommon) and four skills (Physical, Coordination, Knowledge, and Communication). Each stat has an associated target number, ranging from 12 to 5. Skill checks are made by rolling 2d6 plus the skill rank and trying to beat the target number. Backgrounds ("training") give a character two points in an appropriate skill or skills. Characters gain five or more action points every time they level, which can be spent to add 1d6 to a roll. There are rules for converting Coordination and Knowledge into Mechwarrior's Piloting and Gunnery skills.

Combat uses a simple (table-based) hit location system and hex-grid based positioning. The terrain and movement modifiers from Battletech apply. Attacks are skill checks, plus modifiers. Each of the more than a dozen weapons dose a fixed number of dice of damage, which armor reduces. A starting equipment list and a table of typical NPCs by profession are provided.
