Geodesic Gnomes is a 24 hour roleplaying game inspired by a concept from cyberpunk author William Gibson, and written for a 1km1kt.net contest. Set in a future where environmental damage has forced humans to retreat into cities protected by geodesic domes, the "proles" or typical dome residents live in a perpetually wired genetically-engineered utopia, while the mutated descendants of the poor and homeless have become "gnomes", dirty "off the grid" scavengers and tunnel rats who live in the superstructure of the domes.
Gnomes are generated by randomly rolling to determine the number of generations the character's family has been living in the superstructure. This determines a character's base stats (the "Six T's": Tunnels, Tribe, Tools, Timing, Toughness, and Tallness), which are then modified by rolls on a Talents table. Both social status ("Rank") and equipment ("Hardware" or "Junk") are important, and tasks are resolved by rolling equal to or less than 2d8 plus the appropriate T-Stat. A sample adventure, "Geordie's Angle", is included.
