The author is a collector and has access to almost completely unknown sources from the early history of RPGs, like the Blackmoor Gazette and Rumormonger #1 and Rules to the Game of Dungeon, and uses them, as well as rare but more familiar sources like The Domesday Book, to provide an exhaustive picture of the early evolution of the hobby.
