The Basic Fantasy Field Guide of Creatures Malevolent and Benign (or simply the "Field Guide") is the first collection of Basic Fantasy monsters that expands on those in the core rulebook. The Field Guide includes a number of monsters from the System Reference Document (like the aboleth), or reskinned monsters from old school versions of D&D (the stalag very similar to the piercer), but most are completely new (like the giant diving spell spider, clockwork skeletons, and red caps).
