Great Landscape Names is a resource for referees and players of fantasy roleplaying games and wargames. Many scenarios will reference a wood or nearby river, a mountain peak or some other wilderness spot. Many of these locations will not be marked on a large scale ‘world’ or ‘continent’ map. So what are they called? Rather than resorting to the oft-used phrase “nearby woods” all the time, this booklet provides ready-made names for a variety of features.
Here we present six random tables each using d66, that is two six-sided dice, one rolled as ‘tens’ the other as ‘units’. The tables break down landscape features into mountains, rivers, wastelands, forests and villages. Even once all the names are used up on a table, the referee can easily roll on another table and use that result instead. Say, for example all the forest names have been used in past games Simply roll on the Village table to create new combinations, such as Cranswick Woods or Otterdene Forest...
