Exile is probably the most popular novel featuring the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden, the iconic Advanced Dungeons & Dragons character. The story documents 10 years of Drizzt's life, after he rejects the lifestyle of Menzoberranzan and abandons his childhood home for the solitude of the Underdark. During this period Drizzt struggles to retain a sense of personal identity, with only his magical panther companion Guenhwyvar for company.

Exile is the second novel in the Dark Elf Trilogy, and later became Book II in the Legend of Drizzt series.
