Game Summary

Part of the three book AD&D2nd Odyssey Jakandor series, Island of War introduces the proud and honourable Knorr, barbarians exiled from their homeland. Their new refuge, the island of Jakandor, is unfortunately already home to the Charonti, a Broken People wielding foul necromantic magic.

The supplement explores the history and culture of the Knorr, including information on magic, new priest spells, character kits and skills. It also includes a colour map of the island based on Knorrman knowledge.

7 / 10GeburahIsland of War describes, in sometimes exacting detail, the culture and beliefs of the Knorr. The whole is well thought out, although sometimes rather obviously inspired by many "primitive" cultures (Amerindian, Aztec, Irish Celts, etc.). There are one or two "missed notes" (the Hyena Beast Cult is a bit "huh" among the mainly European/North American animals), but on the whole it's an excellent cultural setting. Shame the system (AD&D 2nd Ed) was not the best to handle the setting.
