Game Summary

A horror game where the main characters are children. Although not a really children's game, Little Fears explores the fears and powerlessness that children feel in the face of the monster under the bed and in the closet and other things that go bump in the night. Adults are oblivious to these horrors, and past a certain age, children are as well.

The rules system is very light, only using D6, and was created specfically for the game. The rules and character creation go a long way to putting players into the mindset of playing as children. The setting focuses on honest horrors and scary beasties with an otherwordly and creepy tinge. However, it easily covers anything from light horror and bordering on silly to very intense explorations of abuse and other real horrors.

4 + 3Laurel Stuart. Little Fears is a very scary game about children discovering that monsters are real; but does it approach its subject matter in a way that grownups will really be able to appreciate?
4 + 3SteveD. It’s very rules-light, somewhat flimsy and often confused, but it’s also persistently interesting, and pervasively thoughtful – not to mention creepy as all get-out.
