Krynn is the world of Dragonlance, which was launched in 1984 with the release of Dragons of Autumn Twilight, the first of the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy. An immense hit and one of the first cross-over successes in the roleplaying game world, it spawned literally dozens of novels and supplements that spanned several game systems over the subsequent decades.
Initially set during the Fourth Age, several hundred years after a Cataclysm caused by the gods, the setting's defining characteristics include no divine magic, a steel-based economy (instead of the traditional gold or silver), and a great battle between armies of good and evil dragons. The most popular character in the setting is the sickly and morally ambiguous wizard, Raistlin; though humorous characters are also a recurrent feature, from tinker gnomes to gully dwarves and kender.
