Tony Van Liew Contributor Information

Tony Van Liew

Tony began playing wargames at the age of 8 with some of the old Helen of Toy games. His first "real" wargame was Kriegspiel by Avalon Hill at 11 years old.

He was first published in Metagaming's The Space Gamer magazine, then in The Dragon. With this experience, he was encouraged to design a Star Wars RPG (which is now available for free download at http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/jedi).

After a two-year stint teaching English in Japan, his rules for starship miniatures combat caught the eye of the people at Iron Crown Enterprises who were in the process of creating their own starship combat boardgame. He wrote the scenario design rules for Star Strike, and then was contracted to do a series of three supplements. They each were composed of a series of ship designs and a couple of RPG scenarios. This was followed by helping with the Armored Assault boardgame, and the Armored Reserves supplement.
He volunteered with Iron Crown as a consultant on Silent Death, but then came the bankruptcy and they parted ways.

Tony still designs games as a hobby.
