Avalon Hill

Avalon Hill, founded in 1958, was the oldest hobbyist gaming company in existence. Through much of their life their were owned by the Monarch Printing company.

Avalon Hill got into roleplaying through Victory Games, then later through the publication of several lines under the Avalon Hill imprint, the most notable of which was RuneQuest.

Avalon Hill stopped publishing RPGs in the late 1990s after a very uneven, mostly unsuccessful record, then was sold to Hasbro in 1999. Avalon Hill has since been used as an imprint for board games produced by Wizards of the Coast.
