Though they started off as Traveller licensee, FASA soon grew to become their own company with the publication of the Star Trek RPG. Their best known lines were the Battletech game and the Shadowrun RPG.
FASA did a great job in licensing their properties to other media including computer games and even TV shows. The company was finally shut down in the late 1990s following Jordan Weisman's foundation of WizKids. Today their properties are mostly in print, licensed by various companies.
