Chill is a surprisingly long-lived horror RPG created by Pacesetter in 1984. PCs are investigators, newly recruited by SAVE, a secret society dedicated to protecting the world from the Unknown and practitioners of the Evil Way, as well as cataloguing any knowledge they uncover on these subjects. Originally somewhat campy, the 1990 Mayfair incarnation was much darker. The game mechanics vary considerably between the two editions.

"SAVE" was an acronym for Societas Albae Viae Eternitata (The Eternal Society of the White Way) in the first edition, but "Albae" was changed to "Argenti" (Silver) in the second edition, to avoid potential negative connotations.

Chill was originally released as a boxed set by Pacesetter in 1984, along with a line of 14 supplements and adventures from Village of Twilight to Evenings of Terror (starring Elvira), and a board game (Chill: Blackmorn Manor).

The second edition by Mayfair in 1990 was a single hardcover book (later issued as a softcover) with an accompanying pamphlet, as well as 11 supplements (from the Accessory Pack GM screen and adventure to Things), and a fiction anthology (Chilled to the Bone, available in both softcover and hardcover versions). The core rulebook was also issued in a softcover version, and the Chill Companion and Chilled to Bone are available in both hardcover and softcover.

The Beast Within is not included in this enumeration because it is technically a stand-along RPG, though it uses the same ruleset and setting from a different perspective: the PCs play the "monsters" of the Feral World. Mayfair's Cyber Chill and Chill by Gaslight were completed but never saw print, while Orphans of the Night and A Chill in the Fog were aborted earlier.

OtherWorld Creations acquired the Chill license from Mayfair in 2003 and despite initial promises of a 2006 release, a 3rd-edition has yet to be made (for financial reasons).
