Magazine Summary

Dungeon began life as Dungeon Adventures, a bimonthly Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure magazine published by TSR from September 1986 to November/December 1996 (issue #62).

After Wizard of the Coast purchased TSR, the magazine went on hiatus before returning in July/August 1997 (#63). From 2002 (issue #90) to 2004 (#113) Dungeon was combined with Polyhedron, a more general d20 magazine.

Paizo Publishing, made up largely of the ex-magazine staff of Wizards, took over over publication of the magazine in 2002 (#94). Starting in 2003 (issue #97), the magazine began featuring the first of Paizo's popular adventure paths (Shackled City, Age of Worms, and Savage Tide).

Paizo's license was pulled and Dungeon ceased publication as a print magazine in September 2007 (issue #150). Paizo started a new magazine called Pathfinder while Wizards of the Coast resumed publication of Dungeon, this time in electronic format (initially, a series of free web pages). The June 2008 issue (#155) was the first issue released in PDF format, and later that year the magazine became part of the D&D Insider subscription service.

This entry describes issue 159 of Dungeon.

3 + 3Baz King. This adventure really does feel like a side trek, padded out to make it fit the demands of the adventure path. It has a couple of very good locations and a few memorable encounters, but it’s let down by the ending.
