Al-Qadim Archetypes: Scimitars Against the Dark presents six new subclasses as well as new spells, new monsters, a new variant race, and more for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition!
With an emphasis on exploring the seas and deserts of Al-Qadim, this PDF contains everything you need to take on the evil that threaten the Land of Fate, but also includes easy guidelines for using these options in any setting you like! New class archetypes-- based on the original Al-Qadim: Arabian Adventures and Wolfgang Baur's "Campaign Journal: Scimitars Against the Dark" in Dragon Magazine-- contain not just rules, but full subclass descriptions and setting material to help you or your players role-play these new archetypes to the hilt. The all-new archetypes include:
- Fighter Archetype: The Mamluk. Masters of military science, leadership, and politics, these soldiers are trained from birth in the art of war, gaining indomitable endurance and learning to leverage close collaboration with their comrades in arms.
- Ranger Archetype: The Corsair. Mariners, pirates, and privateers, corsairs are born to the sea, accustomed to swift moves and running battles over open water. Their light, mobile fighting style focuses on devastating counterattacks and outmaneuvering opponents.
- Paladin Archetype: The Oath of Enlightenment (The Faris). A faris is a paladin sworn to uphold the righteous teachings of the Loregiver, binding them to the common people and obligating them to sacrifice all when called to holy war.
- Arcane Tradition: School of the Sungazer. Living paradoxes, these wizards delve into the shadows to defend the light, studying forbidden tomes and blasphemous sorceries that give them the insight and power to defeat evil, but at the eventual cost of their sanity.
- Cleric Domain: The Defender Domain. Sworn to a secret order that defends civilization from ancient evil, clerics of this domain gain the power to protect those around them with relentless determination. Yet sometimes these priest-defenders are forced to deceive the innocent as well, altering their memories to save them from insanity.
- Rogue Archetype: The Tomb Robber. Half-thief and half-historian, tomb robbers are scholars-turned-scoundrels, two-fisted archaeologists who use their superior knowledge to survive trap-filled ruins and haunted mausoleums, all while attaining absolute mastery of a distinctive weapon of their choice (a whip, perhaps...?).
In addition, Al-Qadim Archetypes: Scimitars Against the Dark provides a range of monsters at Challenge Ratings from 1-24, including the deceitful undead genies known as the great ghuls, the tragic race of fallen giants called the rom, the devious and nigh-unstoppable alien menace of the Zakharan Kraken, and many more!
With all this, plus new spells for all spellcasting classes, a new race variant-- the stealthy, ocean-faring sea dragonborn-- and more new rules besides, this PDF also converts portions of previous editions' content from books like The Complete Thief’s Handbook, the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium, and The Complete Arcane. With 29 pages including cover, filled with a mix of cutting edge modern D&D art and classic illustrations from the public domain, Al-Qadim Archetypes: Scimitars Against the Dark is easy on the eyes and absolutely packed with new surprises for your D&D 5th Edition campaign!
