Ah, you may mock, proud as you are of they sharp swords, fine armor and Extraordinary Powers. You may count an old woman's words as naught, if you wish. But there are things in the Grimfens no man was meant to see, and the Low Road you follow is most strange. Have you not heard the old saying? 'He that rides the Low Road rides the way of the devil?'"

In the bright sunshine you felt inclined to laugh at her words, spurn them as you had spurned a dozen other cautions given by well-wishers met along the path. It seemed as though every other traveler you met had some dark tale of the Grimfens Low Road to relate. Now you are in the Grimfens, on the Low Road itself, and the tales do not seem so foolish...
