What if the first roleplaying game was based on Greek myth instead of medieval fantasy? Minotaurs & Mazes is that game, and manages to be both a tribute and a satirical remake of the original Dungeons & Dragons. Not just a joke, it's a complete fully fledged game with an extensive line of support. Nonetheless, it wasn't the first RPG, and wasn't first published in 1972, as the text claims. Originally conceived by Paul "Mithras" Elliot, but developed by Olivier Legrand. The revised edition extends the spoof into the 1980s, and takes on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
