Edition Summary

This is any single-volume collection or slipcase set of the trilogy composed of Homeland, Exile, and Sojourn. Often called the Dark Elf Trilogy, they are chronologically the first three volumes in the Legend of the Drizzt series, though they were the fourth to sixth books in publication order (following the original Icewind Dale Trilogy).

In contrast to the Icewind Dale Trilogy, where the dark elf was a supporting character, this series portrays him as the sole protagonist. The story covers him as a child and young adult, as he grows up in the wicked city of Menzoberranzan. Rejecting their principles, he becomes an exile and lives many years alone in the Underdark with only his magical panther companion, Guenhwyvar. The final volume covers his emergence onto the surface of the Realms, where he faces prejudice and learns to become a ranger.
