Game Summary

From the publisher's website:
Merchants and Cruisers, the tenth book in the highly successful Traveller supplement line, is a giant resource for referee’s looking to populate space between the stars with new ships, and players looking for a new ride. Every ship in this book is individually illustrated and presented with a vector-format deck plan.

From the tiniest of fighters to powerful cruisers, this book provides not just new ships but also new variations on existing themes to ensure no ship encounter need ever be the same as another throughout an entire campaign.

Includes Aslan, Darrian, and Vargr ships.

3 + 5kafka. Supplement 10: Merchants and Cruisers is a worthy addition despite the drawback of lacking chrome to any Traveller library. It does not get a higher Style rating because it is missing the coolness factor. Even as I have come to distain 3D deck plans there are lessons from them. If deck plans are your thing, which are essential for Boarding Action games, then this product is the one for you. However, if you don’t care what it looks like on the inside of ships or already have a vast array of ships populating YTU (Your Traveller Universe) then you may wish to give this product a pass. On the other hand, if Traveller still has its sights set upon joining the pantheon of Science Fiction imaginations beside the likes of Star Wars & Star Trek, as Marc W. Miller once wished for. Mongoose Traveller must get more visual. So, if Mongoose had included more of this fluff, I would not hesitate in giving this supplement a much higher rating for Style.

7 / 10FlexiGood selection of the more common military craft to be encountered, with scout and merchant vessels as well. Small but interesting selection of Aslan, Vagr and Darrian ships. The plans for decks 2 and 3 of the Ritchey class escort unfortunately make it look like a giant penis!
