Game Summary

As part of White Wolf's Year of the Scarab series, Lost Paths: Ahl-i-Batin and Taftâni examines the state of these two magical fellowships into the twenty-first century. The Ahl-i-Batin, first introduced as the "lost Tradition" in The Book of Shadows, are also called the Subtle Ones, as they discreetly manipulate affairs with Correspondence and Mind magic through their paradigm of unity under Allah.

Last seen in The Sorcerers Crusade Companion, the Taftâni seem to be on their way out in Mage Revised. Proud of their mystical heritage, the Taftâni refuse to yield to the consensus, continuing to practice their dramatic magic, binding djinn to their will and perfecting their art in the unknown corners of the Middle East.

Jess Heinig, Mage's line developer at the time, has stated in the RPG.net forum that there had been tentative plans to make a series of Lost Paths books, bringing mage organizations from other eras of the gameline, as well as the World of Darkness, into the present of Mage Revised. The second likely would have showcased the Knights Templar (The Book of Crafts) and the Lions of Zion (The Sorcerers Crusade Companion); a third might have included the Sisters of Hippolyta (The Book of Crafts).

3 + 4Carl L. Congdon. In sum: meaty information on two Traditions so different and yet so alike, but skimpy info on the societies and cultures surrounding them.
3 + 4Bradford C. Walker. It's a meaty book that does very well to make one old faction new again, presents another new one, and makes them both very playble. Check it out.
